College-Prep Math

The mission of the CARES Mathematics Department is to provide students with the fundamental skills of mathematics to be successful in college-level mathematics courses. These courses will cover basic mathematics computations and the fundamental concepts of algebra, which includes number sense, measurement and algebraic thinking.

Mandatory lab assignments reinforce skills and strategies utilizing individualized instruction. The instructor may occasionally substitute enrichment activities for lab.

Additional tutoring is available for students by request. The instructor may also require a student to attend additional tutoring sessions if deemed necessary.

MyMathLab

Specifically created for adult learners, this educational software program combines diagnostics, mastery-based exercises and assessment tools to help improve writing skills. MyMathLab provides a personalized study plan for each student and measures his or her progress. Students will work on assignments in the lab with their instructors and on their own.
