Graduate & Professional School Admissions Criteria – for Degree Status Students
Application for admission is open to anyone with a bachelor's degree either from a regionally accredited institution or with the approval of the Graduate Council. Admission to the Graduate School is approved by the Graduate Admissions Selection Committee in the Graduate School, subject to the recommendations of the appropriate department. Students are admitted as either Degree Status students or as Non-Degree Status students.
The Graduate Admissions Selection Committee evaluates each application individually, taking into account the following measures:
• Undergraduate GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale or above.
• GRE/MAT scores
• Reference letters attesting to ability to succeed at the graduate level
• Written communication skill as evidenced by essay
• Employer Support Form
A positive evaluation of all factors will result in admission and granting of degree-status. Application for admission will be denied if three of the five measures listed above are below the norm for prior admitted students.
If one or two of the measures are below the norm for prior admitted students, the Graduate Admissions Selection Committee will review the application and make a determination about the likelihood of the student’s capacity to be successful in graduate coursework. Students with one or two weak indicators may be admitted conditionally based on the committee’s recommendation.
