Miss Bethune-Cookman University

Kimberley Dominick Smith
“The road to success is always under construction”
Kimberley Smith was born in St. Catherine. Jamaica, on January 2, 1989. She is the daughter of Jennifer Cannon and George Cannon. When Kimberley Smith was ten years old her family made the decision to move to the United States for better opportunities. They reside in Miami, Florida where Kimberley took full advantage of these opportunities by becoming constantly involved in any form of the arts. At an exceptionally young age Kimberley mastered the concept of art, “Creating an idea but not an ideal”. A collaboration of talents, intelligence, and an absorption of deep religious faith led Kimberley to become an ideal role model for her younger brother William Cannon and others.
After graduation from Dr. Michael M. Krop High School Kimberley continued her education by attending The Great Bethune- Cookman University in Fall 2007 where she began to pursue her leadership and multi-tasking abilities (true characteristics of a Queen). A concentration in International Studies with admirations of becoming an International lawyer with goals of changing society, Kimberley knows how to carry a heavy load by being active and holding executive positions in several organizations such as Gamma Phi Delta, 14 Karat Gold Dancers, Model United Nations, Presidential Ambassadors, Independent College & Universities of Florida Fellow, and College World Roundtable. Throughout this tenure and busy schedule Kimberley has remained to keep scholarship her prime focus by maintaining above 3.0 gpa and consistently being on the President’s list.
Living by the philosophy of daring to reach out in the dark to pull someone in the light Kimberley spirit is full of the compassion, integrity, courage, love, courtesy, faith, and purity. Her moments of sadness were observed as learning growing moments and moments of happiness were looked upon as encouraging steps towards success. Kimberley Smith is one of the most influential women leaders on our campus. She thinks like a Queen, a queen that is not afraid to fail for failure is another steppingstone to greatness.
