Walt Disney World® Florida Classic presented by State Farm kicks off in Orlando
Event is more than a football game, it celebrates traditions, family and heritage

Orlando, Fla. (Nov. 1, 2007) – The Walt Disney World® Florida Classic presented by State Farm, the largest-attended football game between two historically Black Colleges in America, will kick off November 17th, at 3:35 p.m. at Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium and will feature Florida A&M University and Bethune-Cookman University.

“I am a sports enthusiast, and this isn’t just about a football game,” said Drew Weaver, Disney Cast Member and FAMU graduate. “The Classic has enabled students to open their minds. It makes me proud to say that I went to FAMU and work at Walt Disney World® Resort.”

The Disney Florida Classic presented by State Farm is a community event that highlights the passions and emotions from multiple generations of Black College Football fans.  This year’s “My Classic” theme highlights the beautiful pageantry, deep-rooted traditions and memories found at these two universities, within the game, and its fans.  With the exhilarating sounds of the legendary FAMU Marching 100 and the B-CU Marching Wildcats, many “My Classic Moments” promise to be created and remembered.

“I always enjoy the Classic because it reminds me of my past- participating in the halftime show,” said Vitina Thomas, Disney Cast Member, B-CU graduate and first female tuba player in the Marching Wildcats.

“The Disney Florida Classic presented by State Farm is definitely more than just a football game,” said Jeffery Campbell, State Farm agent, “It’s the homecoming of family, friends and acquaintances.”

Thanks to last year’s crowd—the seventh straight game with 70,000 or more fans—the Classic has now drawn in excess of 1.3 million fans since 1978. And with nationally-regarded programs in Tallahassee and Daytona Beach, and the support of title sponsor Walt Disney World® and presenting sponsor State Farm, this year is shaping up to be yet another success.

"The Florida Classic is more than a football game to me, says Vince Loffredo, Orlando based Claims Manager for State Farm Insurance, "Through my ten year association with the Classic, I have formed many wonderful relationships with the schools, the community, and within my company".  I am proud that my company, State Farm, is dedicated to making a difference in the support of these two fine academic institutions and in the futures of our children through our long term commitment of sponsorship and volunteerism."

“The rivalry during the game is great, but to me halftime is game time,” said Drew Weaver II, also a FAMU graduate and son of the aforementioned Weaver. “The camaraderie between the bands is the highlight. It is also incredible to see the diversity at Walt Disney World® Resort carried over into the wonderful sponsorship of the game—it has been thriving since it came to Orlando!”
