Distinguished Alumni Awarded by NAFEO

The B-CU family congratulates alumni Donzell Floyd ('72, not pictured), Kelvin Mayner ('91), Israel Milton ('51), Lucille O’Neal ('03), and Gerald Yancey ('89), who are the recipients of the 2012 National Association For Equal Opportunity (NAFEO) Distinguished Alumni Awards.

NAFEO Distinguished Alumni citations are presented annually to outstanding alumni of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominately Black Institutions (PBIs), nominated by their alma mater, who have distinguished themselves in their professions, their communities, our nation, or the world, for excellence and altruism.

Typically, nominees are representative of professional excellence, innovation, entrepreneurship, and the spirit of political and civic engagement that marks so many HBCU and PBI alumni. NAFEO honors these graduates whose careers and service exemplify the best that HBCUs and PBIs have to offer. The black higher education community, federal, state and local policy makers and policy shapers, HBCU and PBI allies, sponsors, and supporters saluted these eminent alumni during a gala honors ceremony, annually during the National Dialogue on Blacks in Higher Education. which took place this year on March 28 in Washington, D.C.
