Dr. Johnson, a resident of Jacksonville, had a 30-year career with the Duval County Juvenile Detention Center and the Department of  Health and Rehabilitation Services.  After his retirement, he continued serving his community through volunteer efforts and other community service.  He is also a noted concert artist and elocutionist.

Founded in 1904 by Mary McLeod Bethune, Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) today sustains her legacy of faith, scholarship and service through its relationship with the United Methodist Church and its commitment to academic excellence and civic engagement.
